20 April, 2007 Filed in: Lawgiverz
In advance of their performance at The Experiment #3 in San Francisco, Lawgiverz agreed to allow a portion of their performance at Music To The Core to be included in the podcast. Originally performed on 14 April 2006, it's still one of the most incredible mix sets anywhere.Lawgiverz are on the bleeding edge of music and technology. The duo of R-Kidz and Noize act as artists, producers, and performers, effortlessly wielding an incredible array of computers, CD players, turntables, and other gadgets to create incredible grooves and unique sounds that defy the laws of nature. They've been working together for a number of years, and have worked with names ranging from Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, The Human League, Future Funk Squad, Freq Nasty, Carbon Community, and Son Of The Electric Ghost (SOTEG). Heavily influenced by Kraftwerk, their sound has been described by Freq Nasty as “Orbital meets Aphex Twin meets Depeche Mode!”

Bass Shifter

Friction is back with another funky, energetic set that will keep you on your feet from the very start.Born in Stockholm, Sweden while his parents were on tour, Friction was immediately submersed into the world of music. On stage in front of an audience of 10,000 by age four, playing guitar by the age of twelve, and opening for bands like Cake and the Deftones by nineteen, music has always been his obsession. Inspired by the music and performance of Bassnectar, Friction took to the decks as new instruments and soon found himself dropping beats and playing venues from small clubs and street fairs to giant festivals. He's played alongside a wide range of artists, including Rennie Pilgrim, Lawgiverz, Bass Kittens, Eskmo, Bil Bless (aka SOTEG/The Disciple Grin), Autobots, Oscure, FreQ Nasty, and Bassnectar among many other amazing talents. With the help of Y no. 5 (which he co-founded) and others in the community, Friction brought the post-apocalyptic Purgatory Cruiser to festivals such as San Francisco Love Parade/Love Fest and the Burning Man arts festival in the Nevada desert.
